Our Take

How We Taste It

Rock Ridge Butter absolutely some of the best butter we’ve had. The high butterfat content (84%) gives it a luxurious mouthfeel and an depth of flavor that simply doesn't compare with typical brands found in supermarkets. It’s the kind of butter that elevates every dish you use it in.

About The Product

Rock Ridge Butter is crafted using a traditional barrel-churning process, where cream is gently agitated in a rotating barrel to create an exceptionally smooth and creamy texture. This artisanal method, combined with its high butterfat content of 84% (compared to the usual 80%), results in a butter that’s richer, creamier, and full of flavor.

Made from Jersey cow milk, this butter highlights the natural goodness of milk known for its 18% higher protein and 20% more calcium than average Holstein mil. Jersey cows also predominantly produce milk with the A2 Beta Casein protein, which research suggests may be gentler on digestion for those with dairy or lactose sensitivities.

Rock Ridge Dairy’s butter is made without herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, GMOs, synthetic hormones, or antibiotics. This means cleaner land and water, and better health for you. Packed with omega-3s and CLAs, Rock Ridge Butter is not only delicious but also brings a touch of wholesome goodness to your table. Supporting this local, family-run dairy means supporting sustainable practices and enjoying butter made with care every step of the way.

About Rock Ridge Farms

The Bos family has a rich history in farming, rooted in a deep passion for the land, animals, and the work that ties it all together. Patrick and Cherylynn Bos began their farming journey at just 22 years old, determined to create a lifestyle that reflected their love for agriculture and their vision for a future family.

From the very beginning, Patrick’s parents played a vital role in supporting the transition and growth of the family farm. Farming side by side, they helped Patrick and Cherylynn navigate the early challenges of financing and shaping the farm to meet their personal goals. This collaboration laid the foundation for the ethical and sustainable dairy operation that thrives today.

In 1999, the Bos family purchased their first milking goats, marking the start of their journey into dairy production. After a pivotal moment in 2004 when their partner processing plant closed, they took control of their future by building their own goat milk and cheese processing facility on the farm. Over the years, they’ve grown to become a leading Alberta supplier of goat milk products, working with a B.C.-based dairy company and four other area farms to produce high-quality goat milk and cheese for major grocery chains under labels like Oak Island and Happy Days Brands.

In 2012, the family expanded their vision even further by upgrading their facility to produce organic cow’s milk and cream, adding another layer of excellence to their operation. Today, Rock Ridge Dairy reflects generations of dedication, innovation, and a commitment to providing wholesome, ethically produced milk and dairy products to Western Canada and beyond.
